1.Biking

Biking is one of the best, and most enjoyable, forms of cardio! Not only are you staying active, but you are saving energy and enjoying time outside as well. Columbus has no shortage of scenic trails to choose from, with each one being unique. Riders can choose trails based off mileage, intensity or location.

The Alum Creek Trail travels along one of Columbus’ most scenic river corridors, and Blacklick Creek Trail weaves bikers toward three different parks. In downtown Columbus, the Scioto Trail travels along the downtown riverfront, while a second connecting trail runs along the west bank of the Scioto River to Dodge Park.

Whether you want to plan a half-day trip with family or friends or just want to enjoy a quick bike ride, there’s a trail in Columbus that’s perfect for every adventure!

2. Swimming

Swimming laps is a full-body workout that offers a wide variety of health benefits such as strength building, muscle toning and maintaining a healthy heart. There are both indoor and outdoor pool options in Columbus, open both early in the mornings and in the evenings.

Arena District Athletic Club Bridal Boot Camp – Day 1

Day 1 – July 6

I have exactly two months until the big day. That’s 62 days until I have to be in a white dress (a tight ish white dress) in front of tons of family and friends. Not to mention all the pictures…

The wedding will take place in Evergreen, Colorado. At the lake house in the picture above this post, to be exact. It’s about 30 minutes away from where I grew up in Denver, a place that is notorious for it’s perfectly fit mountain bikers, hikers, and skiers. I wasn’t ever a good Coloradoan, at least not by those standards. But that is where the wedding will be. I always told him that if we lived in Downtown Columbus, that we would have to get married in my home state of Colorado!

In high school I was the goalie for my soccer team. I loved it because I didn’t have to run a lot. In college I took a rock climbing class and loved it because I didn’t have to run a lot.

When I moved to Columbus I struggled to find spots to climb in or people to climb with me. So I picked up running. I didn’t love it as much as most people do. I run a bit here and there, mostly be pretending that something is chasing me. It’s usually zombies because I imagine them to be quite slow.

That and this photo pretty much describe my current idea of fitness.

Fitness whole Pizza

That will all begin to change today, since I’m starting a bridal boot camp of sorts at the Arena District Athletic Club. The best thing about this fitness club that it is so conveniently located to where I live and work. In the next 62 days, I’m going to start going to the cardio classes they offer, working with a variety of their incredible talented personal trainers, and even attending their FitCamp classes (which sound like they prepare people to be in the movie 300).

Maybe I’ll even start to develop what I have decided are an urban fitness myth… ABS!!!
