The updated list from Forbes.com uses four main metrics from national metric data including average rents of fourth quarter 2015, average percentage of household income spent on rent, vacancy rates, and year over year changes in rental rates. Columbus was also ranked #1 for Cost of Living in 2015 by the Council for Community & Economic Research.
